GBPHS Yaoundé Students Schooled on Career Planning and Academic Readiness
Yaoundé, January 28, 2026 — Students of Government Bilingual Practicing High School (GBPHS) Yaoundé participated in an engaging and insightful career guidance session aimed at strengthening their academic responsibility and future decision making.
The session, facilitated by Audacious Voices, focused on helping learners understand how they choose careers, the challenges they encounter, and the type of support they need to make informed decisions. Through interactive discussions, students explored a wide range of career pathways, including technical fields, entrepreneurship, and emerging digital professions.
Facilitators guided students to reflect on the role of family expectations, peer influence, and limited exposure in shaping their career choices. A hands up survey and group reflections revealed common concerns such as fear of failure, academic pressure, and uncertainty about life after secondary school. Many students acknowledged having limited clarity about the careers they mentioned and lacking access to mentorship or practical guidance.
The session also emphasized the connection between daily study habits and long term opportunities. Students were encouraged to adopt consistent learning practices, deepen their understanding of subjects, and seek help when facing academic challenges.
Key themes and student insights were documented, and basic data was collected to support the development of future mentorship and career readiness programs tailored to their needs.
This initiative underscores the growing importance of structured career guidance in secondary schools, especially for learners navigating major decisions with limited information and support.

Yesterday, at GBPHS Yaoundé, I witnessed something powerful.
Young minds, brilliant, searching, uncertain, leaned into guidance with honesty and courage.
They named their fears. They questioned their paths. They opened the door to possibility.
We spoke of careers beyond the familiar. Of study habits as seeds.
Of how mentorship, exposure, and reflection can shape futures that feel audacious and true.
And in their eyes, I saw it:
The brilliance waiting to bloom.
The breakthroughs already beginning.
This is why we do the work.
This is why structured guidance matters.
Because when students are seen, supported, and stretched—they rise.
Audacious Voices is proud to walk beside them.
And we will keep showing up—until clarity becomes confidence, and courage becomes legacy.
